It's the second conversation in one week, where I had the same response for movie Dangal.
"Oh, You know I am boycotting Aamir Khan's movies. So I am not watching Dangal in theater. Will watch at home on TV when I get it online".
(If you want to know background of why they said so, you can check http://saritahere.blogspot.com/2015/11/whats-wrong-with-aamir-khan-i-guess.html )
And I was simply awed by the kind of stereotyped folks I was surrounded with.
How can one ignore the effort of hundreds of crew and cast that went in making of a movie, just because of one actor? And in Aamir's movies, most of the ones, he is never a lead actor eating away entire screen space. Dangal - A movie to be watched for the storyline, the cast, the acting, screenplay, and a good sports movie. And yet, we have people having trouble thinking straight.
I watched Dangal movie in theatre the day it was released. A great movie, like always Aamir Khan does a great job, a perfectionist indeed. I am not here to give a review of the movie; In simple words - It's a must watch movie. That's it.
But what I don't understand is the illogical mentality of the crowd.
Alright. Fine. The great great deshbhakts of India, were offended by the straightforward and honest statement made by one of the national. First off, guys, he said what he felt, and honestly he doesn't have to take the burnt of it if his intent wasn't in genuine national interest - of getting it across to people of how serious the matter is. He can sit on it without parting his lips - like everyone does. But he dint, he spoke his mind. And what's amazing is we are reacting exactly in the manner he is holding us accountable for. So where is he wrong.
Well, Okay, You might be way too emotional to hear anyone say anything against the country. Then hold up your principles. You boycott Aamir Khan - then boycott him completely. What's this angle of "Oh not in theater, but will watch pirated version at home".
One thing all these hypocrites need to understand is - Both Bhagat Singh and Gandhi had principles of their own and they lived by it in style. And both the paths required courage. Don't give your stupid illogical thoughts the name of principles or patriotism. Principles are born from within, and they cannot be bent; principles are not driven by mass reactions.
So yeah, either you watch Dangal or don't watch it at all. But don't fool yourself thinking that by watching a pirated version you are boycotting Aamir Khan.
