Dawn & Dusk at 7th Wonder of the World!

As I walked down the street through the red walled East gate entrance , I stood still at the first glance of the Seventh wonder of the world!

It was an abrupt trip, completely unplanned for; thanks to a friend who shot this idea my way to take a pit stop at Agra for an evening before I catch my flight to US from Delhi the next day. I just had one evening in Agra, and did not have time to plan anything.

Time Check — We reached Agra at 5 PM on a Saturday evening and headed out to buy entry tickets at 5:45 PM; were inside the East gate by 6:15 PM and it was not crowded at all. We saw the interiors of Taj and then sat outside in the veranda watching the sunset. April being the hottest month, the evening was warm but not uncomfortably hot. 7:30 PM we had to leave as it was closing down. The next day morning we got the tickets at 5:45 AM, were in Taj Mahal again around 6 AM and we sat watching sunrise at the Taj Mahal until 10:30 AM when slowly the place started getting crowded.

It really is quite a serene place if it’s not crowded :) ; just sit there watching this huge white palace in front of you wondering how 400 years back, they would have put this together with such precision. Or just watch the sunset/sunrise color the place red due to all the red stone buildings surrounding Taj Mahal.

Thankfully there is still some nature left around Taj; one can hear the birds chirp or cuckoo sing or see some monkeys/squirrels wandering around.

Today it might seem like just another architecture, but going back to its 400 years old legacy; one can imagine how bright it would have shone in the day light when it was newly built. The pollution and population have done and are continuing to do their job very well in leaving their imprints on Taj Mahal.

I might go back to Taj with my camera for a photography visit to capture it’s beauty the best I can.

Lately I have come to realize that backpacking trips are the best way to see places. Travel in a manner that you belong to that place, not as tourists. To see or feel the beauty and real sense of a place is in being there without rushing around. Me and my friend just sat there, breathing casually, chatting about life in general, observing people around and just relaxing! I cannot think of a better way to enjoy Taj Mahal and am glad I got a chance to do it this way!

Life... A Blank Page!

Whenever I open a notebook and come across the set of blank pages; my mind goes blank. For some reason, it always reminds me of my life. It forces me to start thinking about my life; about the past and the future. When Life Humbles You

When you are planning life, life makes it's own plans and often takes you by surprise. Not that you grow arrogant knowingly, but we all tend to take life for granted while on our mission to success. There are often times when we oversee simpler yet most important ingredients of life. I believe that's when someone takes control of life to put a brake and slow you down. My Favorite Read - 6 - The Climb by Anatoli Boukreev (and Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer)

So, now that I want to get into some serious mountaineering activities, I started with reading books on mountains. When you check for top few books on mountains the one that comes up is " Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer " followed by “ The Climb by Anatoli Boukreev" ; both based on the 1996 Everest disaster which was made quite controversial. Today I am here to make a much interesting comparison of our current Indian TV industry with our neighboring country’s television industry. Interesting because I never thought I would ever engage in watching any of the Pakistan TV series/movies or listening to their music. I came across this image on someone’s Facebook wall; and I couldn’t resist it. It triggered various thoughts in me that I was compelled to write a blog. I spent major part of my last decade trying to get things settled in; to plan for a backup with a backup so I could do something seriously adventurous. But it was not until late last year that I realized I should no longer wait for a timeline to stabilize professionally, financially, personally to pursue my interests. Why "Wake Up Sid" movie is my favorite :)

I am very selective about the Bollywood movies that I choose to watch. I don’t like the typical commercial, masaledar movies without any storyline, characters, screenplay and acting. Most of them are ruled out just by looking at the Name of the movie, its banner, its actors and director. And some which pass these filter criteria get eliminated when I watch their trailers. Very few end up in my watch list. And some movies I end up watching forcibly with my family or friends. Wake up Sid was one such movie, that I came across because my friends chose to watch that movie over tea 4 yrs back. An Old Trunk

He sat there silently feeling the breeze. He wasn't chatty anymore like before. "I definitely am getting old" he thought. Life had stripped him bit by bit, but he never budged.
