So my friends, as of this day, I am the proud owner of a ruptured appendix. Yes, I did it. It wasn't in my bucket list; but apparently my body thought better of me.
I not only did get into appendicitis situation; but I also heroically ruptured it, and went through the pain for over 7 days thinking it was my boxing class effect; until I forced myself into a second opinion with general doctor who suspected it to be ruptured appendicitis with local peritonitis or abscess and rushed me to ER (being in ER and hospital for over a month; I have learnt some fancy medical terms).
Well, long story short, I have been on IV fluids, antibiotics etc..etc.. for over a month and will be undergoing surgery next week.
Considering my house arrest situation, with restricted travel and no jumping jacks; my life has turned into a slow motion scene from any Bollywood movie; where the hero/heroine run towards one another and camera captures them in slow motion. I don't run around any more; just wade in and around the house. So to keep myself sane, I have been painting, sketching and reading.
But here's why I am here today writing this piece. I have done so much of reading in my life, what are the odds that something like this happens; could be a coincidence; but what a timing I must say.
I picked up Vikram Seth's 'A Suitable Boy' ; since it's a huge book, I thought it will keep me engaged through post surgery recovery period as well. Here's what made me write this blog;
Section 1.14, Mrs. Rupa Mehra's letter to Kalpana, see this paragraph -
'How is your dear father? I am writing from Brahmpur where I am staying with Savita and Pran. All is well but the heat is already very dilapidating and I am dreading April-May-June. I wish you could have come to their wedding but what with Pimmy's appendix operation I can understand. I was worried to know she had not been well............'
and so it continues.
You caught that? In so many years of reading various types of books, I never came across this word. And here it is. While I am reading it this morning with my tea; Mocking at me, reminding me of it! I felt it was this world's saazish (conspiracy).
The word Appendix rings bells and drums in my head; I suddenly feel a pain in my right lower abdomen.
Well, this shall too pass. I found it funny, and could not ignore it. I will re-read this page, when I am appendix free next month.
