Of course, some of the best moments in life are always captured in one’s memory; not in the camera. So naturally, I do not have pictures for most of these moments :)
1. Just imagine this, you are standing on a cliff of a mountain at approximately 9000 ft elevation, down the valley there is a river making its way through boulders, in front of you there are huge snow clad mountains filled with pine trees at the base; on your left the sun is rising, on your right you can still see the huge moon very clearly, and then out of no where a flock of about 50 tiny birds fly out from under the valley, hover above your head, making a circle and fly away. This happened with me on Har ki Dun (Himalayas) trek. And seeing so many elements of nature in action, I was awestruck.
2. I am standing with range of mountains around me, the sun is setting on my right, and on my left all of a sudden just one peak turns golden orange. It seems so surreal, to see just one peak stand out. Again, one of the campsites on Har ki Dun trek - for this one, it stayed long enough to click a picture.
3. A beautiful sunrise experience was walking through the Novajo trail (Utah, USA)- see blog https://saritahere.blogspot.com/2018/01/utah-diaries-bryce-canyon-novajo-trail.html
4. We are camping by the lake, with mountains at its backdrop. I step out of the campsite to take a restroom break at night, when I realize it’s way too bright outside. So I just turnaround to look at the lake when I see the reflection of a huge yellowish white moon in the almost still lake. I look up at the sky, and I just hold my breath. The moon is rising behind the mountains; and once up it was so huge that when I stretched out my arms trying to hug it; it filled my arms from where I stood. I had never seen such a big moon before that day (Colorado, USA).
5. Am driving to Utah from Colorado; it's past mid-night, when we just enter Utah; so I pull over to take a picture next to the welcome board. It's a deserted country side with miles of flat fields on either side of the road; when I realize something. I run to my jeep, and switch off the headlights; and then I just look around me, the sky filled or rather overfilled with stars. I dint even have to look up, I was just turning round and round where I stood; and there were so many stars that I cannot explain. Grand Canyon was another place where I saw that kind of sky; and then now recently on Har ki Dun trek. For folks who have never been outside the cities, you will be surprised to know that between every 2 stars that you can see in a city; there are thousands and thousands of stars that you can see with your naked eyes in the wilderness; and it's fucking awesome.
And these are just the top few that come to my mind right now; there are so many beautiful moments like a bear walking along the shore while we are kayaking next to glacier; the double rainbows above glaciers; the floating rock pillars loaded with star fishes; the low clouds while you are up 14000 ft mountain and innumerous such moments nature has blessed me with.
